enjoys a moderate four-season climate. The area surrounding the Hudson River usually sees its first significant snowfall in December, but it varies from year to year. Temperatures near the river remain mild throughout winter, sometimes never dipping below the 40s. Spring arrives in March with slightly warmer temperatures and rain. Summers are hazy, warm and humid. September can be a mixed bag of cool Canadian air or humid warm air with intense downpours. October is one of the best months in the region for hiking and other outdoor sports, when the weather is cooler and much less humid. Fall colors peak the first three weeks of October.
